GRIEF

Grief is one of the most profound human experiences. Whether it stems from the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a major life transition, or even a shift in identity, grief can touch every part of our lives. It is deeply personal and often unpredictable—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. What is Grief? Grief is the emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical reaction to loss. It can present in many ways, including sadness, anger, confusion, guilt, numbness, or even relief. Everyone experiences grief differently, and there is no “right” way or timeline for grieving. You may have heard of the “stages of grief”—denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. While these stages can be helpful in understanding some aspects of grief, they are not linear, and not everyone goes through all of them. Grief is more of a wave than a straight line.
When grief feels overwhelming
• Inability to function day-to-day • Withdrawing from friends and family • Intense emotions that persist without relief • Feeling disconnected or numb • Persistent thoughts about the loss that disrupt daily life
As a grief counsellor, I offer a compassionate, judgment-free space. Together, we can:
• Process the loss and make sense of your emotions, exploring each feeling without pressure or shame. • Develop healthy coping strategies that honor your grief and help you navigate daily life. • Navigate any life changes brought on by your loss, finding ways to find stability amid uncertainty. • Reconnect with meaning and purpose, discovering how to carry your loss forward without being weighed down. • Honour the memory of your loved one (or whatever was lost) in a way that feels authentic and healing.
